    Apple’s Annual iOS updates are a big deal, and it looks like users are loving iOS 18. New data reveals that a whopping 76% of of iphones released in the last four years are not the latest operating system. Let’s break down the numbers and see what this means.

    iOS 18 takes the lead: a swift adoption rate

    According to apple’s latest data (as of January 2025), iOS 18 is the clear frontrunner among recent iphones. This impressive 76% adoption rate shows that apple users are quick to embrace new features and improvements. iOS 17 Sits at 19%, While Older Versions Account for A Small 5% Share.

    What about all iphones?

    Even when considering all iPhone Models, iOS 18 Still holds a strong lead at 68%. iOS 17 Remains at 19%, While Older Versions Make Up a Slightly Larger 13%, likely due to older devices that can’t run the latest software.

    iPados following a similar trend

    The iPad World is see a similar trend. For iPads released in the last four years, iPados 18 boasts a 63% adoption rate, with iPados 17 at 27%. Older versions make up 10%. Across all iPad models, iPados 18 holds 53% of the share, with iPados 17 at 28% and older versions at 19%. iPad Adoption is Slightly Slower Than iPhones, Possibly Due to different usage patterns.
