London-based tech company Nothing has announced that its new Nothing phone (3a) series is being manufactured entirely in India. The announcement is in line with the company’s commitment to harness India’s rich manufacturing capabilities, invest in the local economy, and drive technology innovation.
Nothing has contributed significantly to large-scale employment creation in India. It employs more than 500 employees at its Chennai factory, where the phone (3a) series is being manufactured. 95% of these employees are women.
The Chennai center holds a key role in the manufacturing of the Nothing phone (3a) series, reflecting the brand’s commitment to local manufacturing. Additionally, as Nothing strengthens its presence in India, it is also increasing the local manpower, further strengthening the company’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Nothing has made this announcement at a crucial time as the brand has rapidly gained traction in India. According to Counterpoint Research’s Monthly India Smartphone Tracker, Nothing recorded 577 % year-on-year growth in the Indian smartphone market in 2024, led by the growing demand for its phone (2a) series and its sub-brand CMF Nothing. Additionally, Nothing recently crossed the $1 billion total revenue mark in October 2020, within just four years of its founding.
Further strengthening its commitment to the Indian market, Nothing has also expanded its after-sales service support network. The company now has five exclusive service centers in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai, along with five priority help desks and 300 multi-brand service centers.
Apart from this, Nothing’s retail presence is also growing rapidly and its number of stores has increased from 2,000 stores at the beginning of last year to 7,000 stores now. This shows its strong position in the Indian smartphone market.
