UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has recently announced that you can update the address in your Aadhaar card for free. This facility is special for those who have not updated their Aadhaar details in the last 10 years. UIDAI has extended this free facility several times, first starting in March 2023. Earlie,r it was free till June 14, 2024, but now it has been extended again. So if you have to update the address in your Aadhaar, then do it quickly.

Step-by-step process to update the address in Aadhaar

Step 1: For this, go to the official website (uidai.gov.in) of the myAadhaar portal UIDAI.

Step 2: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, fill in the captcha code, and enter the OTP code sent to the registered mobile number.

Step 3: After logging in, click on the ‘Address Update’ tab and select the ‘Update Aadhaar Online’ option.

Step 4: Read the guidelines carefully and click on ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’.

Step 5: Select the ‘Address’ option and enter your new address. Make sure it matches your Proof of Address.

Step 6: Upload a scanned copy of a valid Proof of Address (POA) like a Passport, Voter ID, Ration Card, or Rent Agreement. Check the details and submit. There is no fee for now under the free facility.
Step 7: After submission, you will get a Service Request Number (SRN), through which you can track the updated status.
