Lithium ion batteries are used in large numbers. This battery is also used in many of our gadgets, but you can guess how dangerous this battery can be from a recent incident. This battery became the reason for a fire in a house in Oklahoma City, America.
Actually, a dog chewed a lithium ion battery, due to which a serious fire broke out in the house. Its video has surfaced recently. The incident is from the beginning of this month. The dog chewed the power bank while playing, due to which sparks started coming out of it and the house caught fire.
Fire caused by dog
The incident of fire was captured by the camera installed in the house. This video has been posted by the Tulsa Fire Department on its Facebook page. In the video, it is seen that the dog is chewing a device, due to which the fire starts. During this time, there is another dog sitting on the sofa, while a cat is sitting on the ground.
As soon as the dog starts chewing the power bank, sparks start coming out of it. After this, the dog takes the device out of his mouth, but the spark coming out of it sets the cushion on fire. Slowly the fire starts taking a bigger form and both the dogs keep watching it standing at a distance.
The house suffered a lot of damage in this accident. However, both the dog and the cat were saved because of the pet door built in the house. After investigating the matter, the fire department said that the device that the dog had chewed was a power bank.
An accident can happen in your home as well
Lithium ion batteries are small in size, but they store a lot of energy. As soon as this energy comes out due to any damage, it cannot be controlled. This causes a fire. You must have seen many times that when a phone breaks, it catches fire.
A major reason for fire in a smartphone is the lithium ion battery. When this battery gets damaged in an accident, sparks and smoke come out of it rapidly. This can also cause a fire. If you also have such a gadget in your house, keep it away from pets and children.
