This incident happened in the beginning of this month. The victim had gone to withdraw money from the ATM, but her card got stuck in the ATM. Since there was no guard in that ATM. In the information given on social media platform X, the victim said that she found a number on the wall of the ATM.
A person present outside the ATM told him that this was the contact number of the agent. After this, the victim dialed that number, after which the fake agent advised her to switch off the ATM remotely, so that she would be able to take out her card. For this the scammer asked them to follow some steps.
However, even after following the steps given by the fake agent, the victim’s ATM card did not come out. The fake agent assured him that the next day the engineers would take out his card from the ATM and return it to him. Later the victim found that money had been withdrawn from her bank account and she did not even have her card on the ATM.
How can you escape?
The victim informed the police about this. The police have registered a complaint and started investigating the matter. You can also be a victim of this type of scam or fraud. Since many times cards get stuck in the ATM machine, you have to keep a few things in mind.
- You should never trust numbers written on the wall. If ever your card gets stuck in the ATM machine, you should contact your bank directly. For this you can get the number from the official website of the bank.
- Do not share your ATM card PIN with anyone.
- If someone asks you to follow some steps, do not follow them without thinking. Pay attention to the steps being explained and understand what the other person is asking you to do.
- If any kind of fraud happens to you, immediately inform your bank about it.
- Do file a complaint with the police against ATM fraud.
