Samsung Galaxy M-series is a popular line-up of the brand. With the help of this lineup, the company was able to compete with brands like Xiaomi in the Indian market. Recently, the company has launched the top handset of this lineup i.e. Galaxy M55 5G, which comes with powerful features.
If you are looking for a full package device in the mid-range budget, then this should definitely be on your list. On-paper, the specs of this phone are strong, but does it impress as much in real life? We will try to find the answer in this review.
Design
If you like a simple design, then this phone will definitely attract your attention. The company has provided a plastic rear panel in it, due to which the phone is light in weight. Because of this, you will be able to use it easily even with one hand. The rear panel comes with a glossy finish, which gives a dual tone experience.
It has a triple rear camera setup, which is vertically in a straight line. There is a single speaker and Type-C charging port at the bottom. There is a flat screen in the front, about which we will talk in detail later. Overall, the design of the phone has been kept very simple, due to which it looks good and is also easy to use.
Display
Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, which is excellent. The screen comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and its peak brightness is 1000 Nits. The visibility of the screen is good in both indoor and outdoor conditions. However, the brightness could have been improved further. Many phones with high brightness are now available in the market.
The touch response of the screen is excellent. There is no lag in it. This screen comes with Widevine L1 certification. You can also watch HDR content on it. Overall, this smartphone comes with a good display, which is expected from a Samsung phone.
Performance
Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, which is good for this segment. This handset comes in three configurations. It has up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The storage can be expanded with the help of a micro SD card.
With the help of this processor, the phone easily performs day-to-day tasks in the real world. While using it, we have not seen any problem like app crash or lag. You can also do gaming on it. However, you do not get full graphics settings in games. That means if you want a phone for gaming, then you can look for other options.
This phone is a good option for those who want a balanced phone for everyday use. The smartphone works on OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14. However, you do not get fancy AI features in it, which are being discussed a lot these days. Some pre-installed apps are also available in the phone. You can also remove these apps as per your wish.
Camera
The phone has a 50MP main lens, an 8MP ultra wide angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, the company has provided a 50MP selfie camera. The camera takes good photos in daylight. The color quality in the photos is not completely natural, but it is fine. There is a lot of detail in the pictures. The camera performs well even in low light.
The front camera also works well. Good photos can be clicked with it. The phone also clicks good photos in ultra wide angle. Overall, this phone also performs well in terms of camera. Anyway, there is no problem of photos in Samsung phones of this budget.
Battery and other features
The smartphone comes with a 5000mAh battery. Although the company started the M-series with phones having big batteries, but due to this the phones looked heavy and bulky. Even with a 5000mAh battery, this phone can be used all day. The handset supports 45W charging.
However, you will have to buy the charger separately. The charger is not provided in the box with the phone. We feel that the company should at least provide a charger in mid-range and low-budget phones. There was a time when Samsung made fun of Apple for not providing a charger and now they themselves do not provide it.
It takes more than an hour for the device to be fully charged. We did not face any network and connectivity issues. The phone may come with a single speaker, but the sound output is good. Apart from this, an in-display fingerprint is provided, which has a good speed.
Bottom Line
If you want a phone with overall performance in the budget of Rs 25,000, then you can consider this. This handset comes at a starting price of Rs 26,999. You will find many other phones in the market at this price, but you will not get the trust of Samsung in them.
This phone is also a good option for those who want a reliable phone from a non-Chinese brand. You will not find useless apps and ads in it, which are found in abundance in many Chinese phones. However, in terms of performance, you will definitely find many better options than this in the market.
