Friday brought good news for SpaceX company owner Elon Musk when Starlink got a license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to provide satellite internet services in India. According to news agency Reuters, this is an important achievement for the company which will take it very close to starting commercial operations in the country. After Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio Satellite Communications, Starlink is the third company to get a license to provide satellite internet services in the country. Now the question is that when Starlink launches services in India, at what price will they be.
How many countries have Starlink
After watching some videos and some reports, we have found some data which shows the rates of different data plans in different countries. According to Starlink’s website, the company is present in many countries of Europe including America, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland. Where and how much plan
According to a USA Today report, Starlink in the UK offers unlimited data on residential plans. According to a report by the website https://taun-tech.co.uk/, Starlink offers three main tariff plans in the UK which are Internet, Business (Premium) and RV (Entertainment Carriers).
The cost of the Internet plan is 75 pounds per month in which the cost of the device is 460 pounds. While the cost of the Business (Premium) plan is 150 pounds per month in which the cost of the device is 2410 pounds. The RV plan is available at 95 pounds per month in which the cost of the device is 460 pounds. An extra 40 pounds has to be paid for hardware, shipping and handling charges and taxes. Whereas whatever device is installed, the user can return it while cutting the connection.
Now talking about America, here too Starlink claims to provide unlimited satellite internet through low earth orbit satellites in difficult zones. People there can avail Wi-Fi facility for their homes, RVs, campers and even for boats. Starlink Mini is available for hikers and travelers.
According to USA Today report, Starlink pricing is something like this:
- Residential plan: $80 to $120 per month
- Roaming: $50 to $165 per month
- Devices start at $349. Installation not included.
In Austria, Starlink charges 50 euros per month for the residential plan and 139 Australian dollars in Australia. Talking about Germany, the residential plan here is 50 euros per month.
Not launching in these countries!
Starlink’s website also mentions its ambition to start its services in countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, UAE, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. Starlink has no intention of starting services for China, Russia, Belarus, Syria, Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea.
