Uttarakhand avalanche update: A fierce avalanche occurred between 5:30 am and 6 am on Friday morning in Mana village of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, causing Border Roads Organization (BRO) 55 laborers working in the camp were buried in snow.
So far, the rescue team has taken out 50 laborers safely, but unfortunately four of them have died.
The search for the remaining five laborers is going on, and the rescue operations are engaged in the rescue operations, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and other agencies.
Due to bad weather and heavy snowfall on Friday, the rescue operation was obstructed, but the campaign was resumed on Saturday when the weather was cleared. Six helicopters are being used in rescue operations, including three Indian Army, two of Indian Air Force and one civil helicopter.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of the affected area and reviewed the rescue operations. He met the saved workers and directed the officials to expedite relief and rescue operations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Chief Minister Dhami over the phone and assured all possible assistance. He also inquired about the rain and snowfall in the state.
The teams engaged in rescue operations are facing challenges due to heavy snowfall and bad weather, but all agencies are trying to rescue the remaining laborers.
Mana village is the last village located at an altitude of 3,200 meters on the Indo-Tibetan border, which is sensitive to natural disasters due to its geographical location.
